Oakdale Elegance: Redefining Contemporary Living

OVERVIEW

Our clients recently purchased their family home in Smyrna, Georgia and wanted help making it their own! The home had great bones, so we had a base to work with. Our clients also have 2 young children but wanted the home to still feel sophisticated and tailored. Their color preferences included neutrals with soft colors with blue being their favorite accent color.

DESIGN PRESENTATION

Our design presentation focused on the main living spaces, home office, formal dining room, primary bedroom and kids playroom. We presented these colorful 2D renderings to allow our clients to visualize the design elements, color schemes, furniture layouts, and overall aesthetics.

FINAL DESIGN

OFFICE

In crafting the perfect office design for this home, our focus was on creating a beautiful, functional space that accommodated the unique needs of the family.

Given that Mom frequently works from home and participates in video calls, a key consideration was designing a backdrop that exuded professionalism and style.

We incorporated a ebony wood desk and colorful accessories for a sophisticated backdrop in the office, complemented by pops of color in displayed books and playful elements such as sculptural vases on the shelving.

GREAT ROOM

In the living room, our emphasis was on creating an inviting space perfect for social gatherings. The custom sectional not only maximized seating but also prioritized comfort and durability with a carefully chosen graphic, textured fabric—a signature BLD favorite—ensuring both longevity and easy maintenance. The living room design also featured blue velvet swivel chairs as statement pieces.

PRIMARY BEDROOM

In the primary bedroom, we opted for a blend of light and neutral colors, ensuring a luxurious environment that both parents could enjoy. The accent chairs for seating feature a soft boucle fabric providing a cozy retreat within the comfort of the primary bedroom.

DINING ROOM

In the dining room, we selected a hand painted custom wall-covering, bringing a level of dimension to the room without being overly distracting. A statement light fixture became the focal point and the upholstered gray chairs feature fabrics that were durable and would be very forgiving if accidents occurred.
